Russian Railways will invest $8.4 billion in reconstruction of 13 railway stations by the beginning of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the organization said.

“These funds will be spent to increase security and to provide transportation options for people with disabilities,” the press office of Russian Railways said.

St. Petersburg’s train stations will get special attention. The total cost of works in St. Petersburg is estimated at $3 billion.

Eleven Russian cities with a total of 31 train stations will accept FIFA 2018 fans. According to Russian Railways, 18 stations conform to international standards. Earlier, Russian authorities announced that people with FanID cards will get  free public transportation and a visa-free entry.
