Russia’s Federal Tourism Agency is planning to open a national tourist office “Visit Russia” in London on November 8, the agency’s deputy chief said.
“The Brits and the Germans are the most travelling nations in Europe. UK tourists are currently looking for new destinations. Russia has interesting tourist routes and projects to offer,” Sergey Korneyev said.
He added that most UK citizens are interested in football, so the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup will increase popularity of Russia among tourists.
According to the Association of British Travel Agents, British nationals spend an average of $38.5bn each year on foreign trips.
The offices of “Visit Russia” already exist in Beijing, Helsinki, Dubai, Rome, Madrid and others. The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be the first ever held in Eastern Europe.
