Four out of 13 airports in FIFA 2018 host cities are ready for the tournament, the head of the Russian Transport Ministry’s airport department said.

Currently, only four Russian airports conform to international standards. These are Moscow’s Vnukovo,St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo and the airports of Sochi and Kazan.

“The main project is the construction of the airport in Rostov-on-Don. It will be completed in December 2017,” Anatoliy Pchyolkin said.

He added that Koltsovo airport in Ekaterinburg will be ready in the same month.

Earlier, CEO of Moscow’s biggest airport Sheremetyevo said they will spend $800 million on building new facilities.
