The reconstruction of Khrabrovo airport complex in Russia's Kaliningrad will be completed only 2.5 months prior to the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the airport's head said.

Alexandr Korytny stressed this was the worst scenario, adding that the airport will need to be tested.

The airport has been reconstructed for the past 10 years. In late 2015, the pace of construction was criticized by President Vladimir Putin.

Eleven Russian cities are renovating their infrastructure ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Kaliningrad, formerly a German city of Konigsberg, will host 4 matches of the group stage.
