FIFA has toughened the control over the distribution of 2018 World Cup tickets and will continue making it more efficient, the organization said on Thursday.

According to the press release, Gianni Infantino has briefed the FIFA Council on the ongoing reforms. Infantino headed FIFA after Sepp Blatter retired amid a large-scale corruption inquiry into FIFA activities.

One of the reform's steps is "strengthening of FIFA’s control, approval and audit rights with the external ticketing agency already contracted for the FIFA World Cup in 2018."

FIFA added that it will roll out a new, more transparent ticketing model after the 2018 tournament.

Eleven Russian cities will host FIFA World Cup on June 14-July 15, 2018 for the first time in history.
