Russian saxophone player Igor Butman became a FIFA 2018 World Cup ambassador of Saransk, one of 11 Russian cities to host the tournament.

Butman is Russia's most famous jazz musician. He leads the Moscow Jazz Orchestra. President Bill Clinton once referred to Igor Butman as his favorite saxophone player.

The musician said he hoped the 2018 World Cup guests will appreciate Saransk's atmosphere. 

Saransk is the capital of Mordovia, home to Mordvin indigenous ethnic group. The city will host four World Cup games in June 2018.
