FIFA sees no reason to boycott or ban the upcoming 2018 football World Cup in Russia, the organization’s secretary general said during her visit to St. Petersburg.

“There are no reasons to ban the World Cup in Russia. We are trying to minimize the risk of the boycott. We invite the media to cover not only the level of preparation, but also the high level of security,” Fatma Samoura said.

Earlier, the former president of the World Anti-Doping Agency said that some countries may boycott the 2018 FIFA World Cup because of the doping scandal in Russia. Earlier, a report commissioned by WADA found that Russia has been running a state-sponsored doping program.

Less than 100 days remain until the opening match of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. Four Russian cities will host the tournament for the first time.
